What color was your first tent
Remember your first tent? Are you kids playing with tents like my kids are? Sure, the tent may only be in the living room. But it is really cool to watch the interest in the little ones develop. I think this is something you should really encourage. Reflect on the great things that have happened as a result of your camping. Now think about all of those great things that lie ahead for your kids. This is why you need to actively encourage this stuff when they are young. So, I'll get off my soap box and back on point. The earlier you introduce your kids to camping the more likely that they will stick with the hobby.

Stories from the outdoors
I was on our first camping trip by ours I mean Jenn and I we are still together 10 years after this story. That's whole other story in it self. I bragged about my camping skills and my Eagle scout credits the whole way to the campground. I talk about how i could start a fire with rope and some spark or with one match. We got wood from the campground store it was raped in plastic. I could not get this wood to light if my life depended on it. After about 1-1/2 hours I thought maybe the wood that was rapped in plastic could be wet or moist form that rap. So with the store close I knock on this mans door a 12:30 Am It was during labor day east coast it was chilly out. I had to do it. He was more then happy to help us on a cold evening. We went back to the camp site and lets just say it got a little freaky and i lit more then one fire that cold September night. Something else you will like.
Even though my husband's family had a pop-up camper when he was a kid, we decided that that kind of camping wasn't for us. We wanted to do the tent thing. Instead, we added time periods and added canvas tents suitable for the Revolutionary and Civil War periods. Non-historic camping now generally involved a cabin, and with a little shopping around or a check of state park sites, we were able to find discounts. Pennsylvania state parks generally open their campgrounds from March through late December and the state Website offers a wealth of information about the facilities, the park features and the surrounding area. You can find everything from rustic sites accessible only by foot to lodges that will sleep up to 14 people at the state parks.![]()

Camping World Holds Many Joys
Potential fun is endless in the camping world. The main attraction of the camping world is enjoying the benefits of the great outdoors. A few of the possibilities to partake in while camping include swimming and hiking, as well as some rest and relaxation. The camping world holds many joys. However, being prepared not only for the activities you plan on, but also those you would rather avoid, can make the trip run more smoothly.
A tent or other shelter is the main thing that you will need for camping. Dealing with the elements will not be a problem with shelter from a tent or other shelter. The conditions in the camping world can range from bright and sunny to torrential downpours in a matter of minutes! In cases of extreme heat, a strategically placed tent could shield you from the sun. For further protection, having a sturdy rain fly covering the roof of your tent can keep you dry. The floor will stay dry, too, if you spread a tarp beneath your tent. A great alternative for shelter can be a pop up camper if your budget allows for it. A number of shelter options are available for the camping world.
One of the best parts of camping can be sleeping under the stars and feeling the cool breeze blow gently through your tent windows. To make sleeping even more comfortable, it is wise to invest in sleeping bags and padding. Depending on your needs, there are many styles of sleeping bags. Conventional sleeping bags that zip up around your chest are one option. There are also mummy style sleeping bags which can zip all the way up and around your head! You can get a sleeping bag that suits your needs as far as temperature range, material and color criteria. Padding or mats for underneath your sleeping bag are also good to have. Depending on your comfort needs, padding is available from blow up mattresses to foam egg crates. With the right gear, you will be comfortable and warm at night.
As far as outdoor activities go, there are a wide array of possibilities. Hiking is a sport that many enjoy in the camping world. Terrain and distance vary with the difficulty level of hiking trails. Even on beginner trails, it is best to be prepared. Bottled water is an important provision to bring. Hiking is one of the many forms of exercise in which it is crucial to stay hydrated. Another item you will need is a pair of sturdy shoes, such as hiking boots. Hiking boots can be had for any needs and budget, depending on the materials and colors desired. It is a wise choice to bring some sort of compass or global positioning system device with you on a hike, in case you get lost. You may even want to bring a light snack such as trail mix for longer treks. Hiking should be comfortable and safe with these provisions.
Dry matches, cooking gear and firewood are also important items to have while camping. Many of the aforementioned items you need are very durable and can last you for years of camping fun. Follow these tips and you will make endless wonderful memories while camping.
